Mom's Homemade Chips

I absolutely love my mom's homemade chips. There's no frying involved meaning they're super simple AND healthier! It's actually crazy how easy they are but they're so moreish that we never have oven chips anymore - they're that good!

They're basically roast potatoes in the shape of chips/wedges but they're so much better than oven chips.

I suppose that is my opinion, so you'll have to cook them for yourself and see if you agree!

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 30-45 minutes
Total time: 40-55 minutes

What you'll need:

  • As many potatoes you think will make a serving big enough that you need/want
  • Cooking oil
  • Any seasoning you want (we normally have simple salt and pepper but we have used garlic salt and chilli salt in the past. You could even go all out and sprinkle some paprika on if you prefer something with more flavour!)
TOP TIP: if you use a foil tray the chips won't get stuck and eliminates the need to wash up afterwards. Winner!

What to do:

  1. Peel the potatoes
  2. Cut into chips/wedges
  3. Put into an oiled tray
  4. Chuck them in the oven at 200 degrees fan for 30-45 minutes, or until the potatoes are no longer hard and are a lovely golden brown colour.
NOTE: cooking time can vary depending on how crowded the tray is and on the size of the chips. Thicker cut chips will take longer to cook than thinner cut.

Let me know if you enjoy this as much as my family does in the comments below! Or follow me on twitter @getitdownyaneck. I'd love to hear from you!
